DESCRIPTION

Iñupiaq photographer Brian Adams has spent years documenting contemporary life in the North, particularly the lifeways of Alaska’s Inuit peoples, which include Iñupiat, Yup’ik, Cup’ik, and St. Lawrence Island Yupik peoples. Highlighting cultural and environmental stories of change, Adams’ work offers an intimate look at village life in the 21st century. Pictured here is an everyday scene from Quinhagak.

For Adams, “the ultimate purpose of this work is to bring together a people separated by borders and melting sea ice, as well as to educate others about these resilient people and the struggles they still face.”
